BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — June 7, 2025 — Brookland Public Schools announced Friday that Assistant Superintendent George Kennedy accepted the role as superintendnet.

In a release on its website, Danna Johnson, a Brookland Public Schools school board member, announced the news and praised the work of Kennedy in the past.

“He served as the Interim Superintendent for 7 months in 2022 and was responsible for rebuilding a positive culture in which students and faculty can thrive. His integrity, goals for student achievement, commitment to community, and dedication to provide teachers and faculty with the tools and support to succeed align with our vision for Brookland Public Schools,” the release said.

The board held multiple interviews with candidates in recent days.

The search for a new superintendent came after a May announcement that current Superintendent Brett Bunch would be moving schools.

Kennedy’s position will become effective on July 1, 2025.
