BROOKLAND, Ar — (BrooklandNews.com) — May 13, 2025 — Brookland Public Schools Superintendent Brett Bunch is set to leave his position.

In an announcement to teachers and staff, obtained by Brookland News, Bunch said he would be stepping down and moving to the Lonoke School District. Lonoke also confirmed the move in a Facebook post, noting that Bunch graduated from the district in 1982 and that the school board has approved his hiring.

Brookland News’ Jackson Mitchell interviewed Bunch just days before the announcement. At that time, Bunch made no mention of his upcoming departure.

Bunch became superintendent of Brookland Public Schools in 2022 after leaving the Newport School District. He was a finalist for the superintendent position at Pulaski County Special School District, though that role ultimately went to the current superintendent of the Lonoke School District. Bunch is now set to take over that position.
