JONESBORO, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Jan. 31, 2026 — A man is facing a felony burglary charge after police say he forced his way into a closed business on East Highland Drive and stole two energy drinks.

According to the probable cause affidavit, 21-year-old John Michael Jenkins was located by officers about one mile east of the business after an alarm call was reported Jan. 29 at 2920 E. Highland, which is an Exxon.

Officers responded to the scene and were told the business was closed at the time and is not a 24-hour store, the affidavit states. While officers were en route, they were notified that security cameras had observed a man inside the building.

Police obtained a description of the suspect and later located Jenkins, matching that description, according to the affidavit.

Officers said Jenkins was found in possession of a Red Bull can and a 5-Hour Energy bottle. Police then returned to the business and met with management, where an officer reviewed surveillance video that allegedly showed Jenkins forcefully pulling open the front door, entering the closed business, taking the items and leaving the area.

Jenkins is charged with commercial burglary (Class C felony). The charge carries a possible penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. A judge found probable cause for the arrest and set bail at $250,095.

According to the Craighead County Detention Center inmate roster, Jenkins was released on Friday, January 30.

Jenkins’ next court date is scheduled for March 20 at 8:30 a.m. at the Craighead County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
