BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Jan. 23, 2026 — Brookland Public Schools announced this week they will hold a meeting to address questions on a mileage increase.

In a post on the district’s Facebook, it said the meeting will be held on Thursday, January 29, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. in the hallway between Bearcat Arena and the front high school parking lot.

Brookland Public Schools is seeking a 3.95-mill increase to fund two new projects: a junior high cafeteria/community tornado shelter and the Bearcat Training Center. The district has experienced significant growth, necessitating these new facilities.

During a recent basketball game held at Bearcat Arena, signs and pamphlets were displayed for visitors.
