BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Aug. 2, 2025 — Arkansas’s annual tax-free weekend begins Saturday, giving shoppers a two-day break from state and local sales tax on qualifying purchases.

The statewide sales tax holiday will run from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, and applies to in-store and online purchases, according to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration.

Eligible items include clothing and footwear priced under $100 per item, as well as cosmetics and accessories under $50. A wide range of school supplies, including backpacks, binders, calculators, and writing tools, are also tax-exempt. Electronics and other non-educational items, such as sports gear, are not included.

There is no quantity limit, meaning shoppers can purchase multiple items tax-free as long as each one falls within the state’s price guidelines.

To support shoppers during the weekend, Jonesboro Economical Transit (JET) will offer free rides on all fixed routes both Saturday and Sunday. JET officials said the move is meant to reduce barriers for families preparing for the upcoming school year.

A full list of tax-exempt items and additional information can be found on the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration website.
