WASHINGTON — (BrooklandNews.com) — June 6, 2025 — The clash between President Donald Trump and former Special Government Employee Elon Musk is growing as Trump pushes for the “Big, Beautiful Bill” to pass the Senate.

Elon Musk has criticized the “Big, Beautiful Bill” extensively, posting over 40 times on his social media platform X expressing opposition to the bill. The bill is a federal reconciliation budget, meaning it’s an expedited federal budget. It is facing some challenges. While it passed the House of Representatives, the Senate wants changes, meaning it has to go back through the House.

Musk said in one post, “Congress is making America bankrupt. ” In another, he said, “Not even those in Congress who had to vote on the Big Ugly Spending Bill had time to read it!” He also labeled the bill a “disgusting abomination.”

However, Trump disagreed, saying he’d prefer Musk criticize him personally rather than the bill.

During a press event in the Oval Office, a reporter asked President Trump, “Thank you, Mr. President. The criticism that I’ve seen and I’m sure you’ve seen regarding Elon Musk and your big beautiful bill what’s your reaction to that do you think it in any way hurts passage in the Senate, which of course your seeking?”

Trump responded, “Well look, you know I’ve always liked Elon, and it’s always very surprised. You saw the words he had for me. The words are for, and he hasn’t said anything about me that’s bad. I’d rather have him criticize me than the bill because the bill is incredible, it’s the biggest cut in the history of our country.”

Later in the press event, Trump remarked that he was “very disappointed in Elon.” Trump also said that Musk is posting because, “You know Elon’s upset because we took the EV mandate and you know which was a lot of money for electric vehicles, and you know they’re having a hard time the electric vehicles and they want us to pay billions of dollars in subsid[ies].”

Elon maintains that this is not why he is posting.

This comes after President Trump said cutting federal contracts and subsidies for Elon Musk’s companies would be “the easiest way to save money in our Budget.”

“I don’t mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago. This is one of the Greatest Bills ever presented to Congress,” Trump said in another Truth Social post.

After that, Musk posted additional criticisms of President Trump. In one post, he said, “Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” In a reply, Musk noted, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”

These remarks came after Trump said, “Elon was ‘wearing thin,’ I asked him to leave, I took away his EV Mandate that forced everyone to buy Electric Cars that nobody else wanted (that he knew for months I was going to do!), and he just went CRAZY!”

The disagreement extends beyond the reconciliation bill; Trump also withdrew his nomination of Jared Isaacman for NASA administrator. In response, Musk reposted a 2024 post from Trump calling Isaacman an “accomplished business leader, philanthropist, pilot, and astronaut,” and praising how “exceptional” he would be as NASA leader.

The public dispute is notable given that some once called Elon Musk “President Musk,” suggesting he had significant influence over the U.S. government, and also that Musk had praised Trump during his tenure in the White House.

Musk has also noted in posts the millions of dollars donated to the Trump campaign during his recent run for president. “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”

When asked about impeachment, Musk replied “yes” to a post suggesting Trump should be impeached and Vice President JD Vance should become president.

Before leaving his role as a special government employee—a position limited to 130 days in a year—Musk said, “I expect to remain a friend and an advisor and certainly if there’s anything the president wants me to do, I’m at the president’s service.”

Regarding Musk, Trump said on X in February 2025, “The more I’ve gotten to know President Trump, the more I like him. I love the guy, he’s great.”

Republicans are reacting, and Steven Bannon, the conservative host of “War Room” on “America’s Real Voice,” suggested that Elon Musk should be deported.

“It’s about the sovereignty of the nation and sealing the border and shipping 13 million out of here, let me change that 13 million in one, cause Elon Musk is illegal and he got to go too,” Bannon remarked on his show.

The back-and-forth only began days ago and is ramping up quickly.
