CALICO ROCK, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — June 6, 2025 — Grant Matthew Hardin was captured by authorities around 3 p.m. on Friday.

The Arkansas Department of Corrections, in a release, said Hardin was found by Arkansas law enforcement officers and the U.S. Border Patrol near Moccasin Creek in Izard County. Moccasin Creek is less than two miles from the prison.

According to the Arkansas State Police, Hardin escaped from the prison facility at approximately 3:40 p.m. on May 25. Surveillance footage showed him wearing what appeared to be a homemade corrections officer uniform, possibly to blend in with prison staff.

Hardin, 56, was serving a 30-year sentence for a 2017 murder and a rape that occurred in the 1990’s.
