Milwaukee, WI– In a speech that lasted more than one and a half hours, a record high for a convention speech, Former President Donald Trump accepting the GOP nomination while recounting the moment he was shot.
“I am not supposed to be here tonight,” Trump said. “I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of god almighty,” Trump said recalling the Saturday night tragedy, when a gunman opened fire into a rally crowd, hitting Donald Trump’s right ear and leaving one dead and two other civilians injured.
As Trump took the stage, the light revealed the firefighting uniform of Corey Comperatore, the victim who died trying to protect his family during that Butler Township, PA. Trump rally.
The former president, kissing the helmet of Comperatore, then taking a moment of silence for the victims. Tears falling from supporter’s eyes as Trump recounted the moment.
Trump using the rest of his record breaking – long speech talking the Biden Administration and what he pledged to do if he wins four more years in the Oval Office.
When speaking on the Southern Border, Trump pulled up the graphic that he was showing when shots rung out at his rally. The graphic displayed illegal border crossings.
As Trump has campaigned for a massive deportation, tax cuts, specifically no tax on tips.
Trump concluding the speech by asking for votes. “Nothing will sway us. Nothing will slow us. And no one will ever stop us,” Trump said. “No matter what dangers come our way, no matter what obstacles lie in our path, we will keep striving toward our shared and glorious destiny — and we will not fail.”
