Brookland, AR- A Story I first covered back in August of 2022 is still ongoing, as two popular brands of cars are being broken into.
After a video goes viral in the late summer of 2022, on a popular social media app known as TikTok made by the “KIABOYZ,” showing people how to break in to south Korean made vehicles, like Kia and Hyundai.
In order to break into the car, all you need is a charging cable. The cable goes in to the ignition, showing a flaw of Kia and Hyundai’s ignition.
The “Kia Boyz” have reportedly caused crashes, an just brek-in to the vehicles to take joy rides.
A YouTube video posted publicly shows a “Kia Boy,” saying if someone were to get killed by their reckless driving, that they should have “moved out of the way.”
Both companies have pending lawsuits against them, which is the reason why in some places steering wheel locks are being handed out.
The cars being broken in to are cheaper cars that don’t have immobilizers.
Kia has said they are building all new cars with immobilizers, to prevent this growing problem.
