STUTTGART, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — March 1, 2026 — Brookland returned to the top of the 4A-2 Regionals on Tuesday night, defeating Blytheville to capture its first regional championship since 2014.
The Bearcats entered the postseason with a 25 to 6 record and faced a familiar opponent in the title game. Blytheville, which finished the regular season at 27 to 5, had won two of three meetings against Brookland during conference play.
Brookland opened the season series with a 63 to 56 win at home on Jan. 13, Blytheville answered later in the month with back-to-back victories, including the district championship victory against Brookland.
Those results set up a high-stakes regional final between the state’s top 20 contenders, according to MaxPreps.
Brookland advanced through the bracket with a win over Stuttgart and a semifinal victory against Forrest City. In both games, the Bearcats relied on key players like Cooper Davis, Lane Webster and Riley Sutton.
In the championship, Brookland tightened its perimeter defense and limited second-chance points, a key adjustment from earlier losses to Blytheville. The Bearcats took the lead early in the first quarter, by the second, the Chickasaws began catching up. After halftime, the Bearcats got the lead back and kept it, leading to a championship win with a score of 57-31.

Brookland now turns its focus to the Class 4A state tournament, carrying momentum from a postseason run. The Bearcats will play Tuesday at 2:30 against the Dardanelle Sand Lizards.
