BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — October 22, 2025 — Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire in Brookland.

Fire crews from the Brookland Fire Protection District and the Philadelphia Fire Department arrived at the scene of a house fire at the 200 block of Stevens Street.

Nearby resident to the fire, Daric Hughes, told Brookland News, “We heard one boom. Got up, thought it was a gunshot, looked outside, didn’t see anything, then a second boom, and I called 911 because I was certain something was wrong.”

Hughes also told BN about the realization it was a house fire, “The dispatcher asked if there was a house on fire because about that time a call came in, and I went and looked, and that’s when I first saw. I made sure both people were out of the house that I knew lived there. I saw the elderly home owner trying to put it out with a garden hose, and I went and told him to stop, that won’t stop it, and was able to get him away from it.”

Authorities are asking people to avoid the area.

It’s unclear what began the house fire, and if there are any injuries. BN is monitoring the story.
