OREM, UT — (BrooklandNews.com) — Sept. 12, 2025 — Officials with the FBi confirmed Friday that a suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk had been arrested.
Charlie Kirk, a conservative podcaster and the founder of Turning Point USA, was tragically shot dead by a single gunshot while delivering a speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The shooter, now in police custody, was positioned on a nearby building, where ten minutes into the event, Kirk began taking questions, and the shot rang out. It would hit Kirk directly in the neck.
“We got ’em,” Spencer Cox, Governor of Utah, began a Friday press conference, before confirming that it was a confession by Robinson to a family friend that led to his capture nearly 250 miles away from the original crime scene.
Family members also indicated to authorities that Robinson had only become interested in politics recently.
The mugshot of the suspect has been released.

Investigators reviewed camera footage that showed Robinson arriving at the UVU campus in a gray Dodge Challenger early that morning. Robinson would kill Kirk from a nearby building, where he changed clothes, jumped off the building, leaving behind a palm print, and hid the firearm in a wooded area. Later, he would change back to his original clothes.
During a press conference on Friday, officials revealed that two unfired bullets read, “Hey fascist, catch” and “If you read this, you are gay, LMAO.” Officials also confirmed that Discord, a popular messaging app, was used by Robinson to share some of his beliefs.
Reactions poured in from leaders across the nation. “Charlie Kirk was participating in the very American act of political dialogue when he was taken from us. He was a husband, son, and father of two little children. Political violence is anti-American. It’s an attack against our very values. It’s an attack on our republic. In our great country, we settle our disagreements with ballots, not bullets,” said Senator Pete Ricketts.
Rep. Don Bacon added, “Our hearts and prayers are with Charlie’s wife, children, family and friends. He served on the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors with me and will be missed. Our country not only protects, but cherishes our freedom of speech, and political violence terribly undermines our Republic. I hope the killer is found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Charlie Kirk’s own words have also resurfaced, as he previously spoke about the dangers of being a public figure. “We get death threats all the time. They send stuff to our homes and all that. That’s just par for the course … I mean, if you are not getting active death threats, you’re not really doing much for the country,” Kirk once said in an interview.
Charlie Kirk’s body was flown to Arizona on Air Force 2 with Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance. A funeral for Kirk is expected to be held in the coming days, while a specific date remains unconfirmed.
Authorities originally arrested two subjects whom they thought were involved in the assassination, but both were later released and weren’t the suspects. The suspect would remain at large for 33 hours before President Donald Trump announced in an interview on cable news that, “I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him.”
Charlie Kirk was 31 years old.
