BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Aug. 22, 2025 — Multiple area fire departments responded to a structure fire on Thursday.
According to a Facebook post by the Brookland Fire Protection District (BFPD), “At approximately 15:40 on Thursday the 21st, tones were sent for a structure fire at Mark’s Recycling off Missouri St. Tanker 1, Engine 2, Tanker 2, Engine 3, Tanker 3, Brush 3, and several squad units responded.”
The post also says that the Jonesboro Fire Department, Philadelphia Volunteer Fire Department, Lake City Fire Department, Paragould Fire Department and the Southern Greene Fire Department assisted in the battle.
One resident of Brookland said, “You could see the smoke as soon as you entered Brookland.” The resident asked that their identity remain anonymous.
Images, sent to Brookland News, captured the smoke and the building.
60 firefighters and 12 apparatus helped fight the fire, according to BPFD. The cause of the blaze remains unclear.
