CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Aug. 7, 2025 — Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd has announced that he will not seek re-election.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the citizens of Craighead County as their Sheriff,” Sheriff Boyd said in a statement. “I am incredibly grateful for the support the community has shown me, my deputies, and my detention officers. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together in making our county a safer, more prosperous place.”

Boyd has served in law enforcement for 34 years, and 13 as sheriff of Craighead County. Boyd began his career in 1991 at the Craighead County Detention Center, before moving to the sheriff’s department a year later. Boyd would serve in many roles until he was elected Craighead County sheriff in 2012.

“I would also like to express my deep appreciation to my wife, Tonya, and to our daughter, Neely, for their unwavering love and support,” Sheriff Boyd went on to say.

Sheriff Boyd will finish his current term as sheriff, which concludes in 2026.
