BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — July 9, 2025 — Brookland Public Schools has announced its new electronic device policy, which will take effect this school year.
In a Facebook post, the school released a graphic that reads “electronic devices must be powered off and out of sight from arrival on campus until 3:15 p.m.”
While the school also notes some exceptions, including if a student has an individual education plan (IEP), a 504 plan, or an individual health plan. District-provided devices are also allowed, according to the policy.

It is unclear what occurs if a student is found using an electronic device.
The policy change is a new requirement for Arkansas public schools, after Governor Sarah Huckabee-Sanders signed Senate Bill 142 into law. It requires Arkansas schools to adopt policies making school cellphones free bell-to-bell. The bill asks schools to amend the policy for fires, tornadoes, shooters, and several other exceptions.
