JONESBORO, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — July 8, 2025 — A woman being held at the Craighead County Detention Center on numerous charges has second-degree battery added after allegedly attacking an employee.
According to the affidavit on July 6, 2025, Golliday was not on her assigned bunk and became “loud and argue[d] about having to get on her bunk.” The employee decided to remove her and noticed a makeshift headband, which is considered contraband. When the employee attempted to remove it, Golliday “punched her in the face,” struck Blankenship several times in the head, shoved her to the floor, and stomped on her leg. Blankenship sustained visible head injuries and an injured knee.
Sommer Jean Golliday, 31, of Blytheville, was originally arrested for failure to pay fines, domestic battery in the second-degree and failure to appear.
Golliday was later also charged with another second-degree battery charge with injuries to a police, fire or correctional employee. Bond was set at $150,000 cash or surety. Golliday’s next court date is August 21, at 8:30 a.m.
