Washington — (BrooklandNews.com) — June 12, 2025 — Preparation has begun in Washington, D.C. for the parade to celebrate the Army’s 250th anniversary on Saturday.
Preparations are leaving many D.C. roads closed as the parade is expected to use the National Mall, from 7th and 23rd streets. Construction for the event is already underway.

The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPDC) released a lengthy list of road closures, bus detours throughout the city and more. Here is the list of closed roads:

The event commemorating the United States Army’s anniversary coincides with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. This has left many Democrats upset, as the Army has also revealed that the event will incur a cost of $45 million.
The price is for seven thousand uniformed soldiers, accompanied by dozens of tanks and military vehicles, marching bands and a fireworks display.
It’s all set to begin at 8:15 a.m. with the wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery. Then, at 9:30 a.m., the Army will hold a fitness competition from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. the festival will occur on the National Mall and at 6:30 p.m., the parade begins. Fireworks on the National Mall will begin at 9:45 p.m. Times are in Eastern Standard Time.
Protesters from the “No Kings” movement are planning to protest in over 1,500 cities across the nation.
President Trump warned protesters Tuesday in the Oval Office: “If there’s any protester [who] wants to come out, they will be met with very big force.” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt rejected the notion earlier this week that Trump would not allow peaceful protesters.
“If there were peaceful protests on Saturday for the military parade, President Trump would allow that,” a reporter asked during a press briefing. “Of course, the president supports peaceful protest, what a stupid question,” Leavitt replied.
