Monette, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — June 4, 2025 — A Monette woman is accused of stealing from a home that was damaged by severe weather.
Kandice Nicole Hodge was arrested by the Monette Police Department and booked into the Craighead County Jail on June 3 for charges of theft ($1,000 or less), criminal trespassing, and residential burglary.
The probable cause affidavit alleges that around 5:30 p.m. on May 31, Hodge visited a room connected to a storm-damaged home at the 900 block of West Drew Avenue in Monette and took a Frigidaire air conditioner without permission. The incident was caught on a nearby camera.
When police spoke to Hodge, she admitted to taking the air conditioner but claimed she had permission to do so. She mentioned that a witness had heard her being given permission, but when police spoke to the witness, they denied that. However, when police spoke with the property owners, they claimed that Hodge didn’t have permission and that a rope had been set up to block the driveway, as per the affidavit.
In a probable cause hearing, Hodge became emotional before Judge Tommy Fowler, who read her rights and set her bail for $75,000 cash/surety. Her next court date is August 1, 2025.
