CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — May 28, 2025 — A Craighead County company with ties to China sold its land following an order from Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin.
The company, Syngenta, was forced to sell its land after Attorney General Griffin of Arkansas enacted a new law prohibiting several countries, including China, from owning land within its borders.
“This is the first enforcement action I have taken under the authority granted under Act 636 of 2023 by the General Assembly to ban prohibited foreign entities from owning Arkansas agricultural lands. The land in question is owned by Northrup King Seed Co., a subsidiary of Syngenta Seeds, LLC, which is ultimately owned by China National Chemical Company (ChemChina), a state-owned enterprise,” Griffin said in October 2023.
Syngenta Seeds LLC sold over 150 acres of land to Moore Legacy Farm LLC on May 15, for around $760,000, according to a report.
The company is said to be developing agricultural technology and is based in Switzerland.
