Brookland, AR – (BrooklandNews.com) – Feb. 17, 2025 – As frigid temperatures and snow are expected to blast Brookland, warming shelters have opened.

Those in need of shelter during the storm have several options.

The Salvation Army in Jonesboro has opened as a shelter and has 50 beds. Check-in is from 4-5 p.m. at 800 Cate Avenue, and checkout is after breakfast, served at 7 a.m. They will stay open until temperatures reach about freezing, 32° Fahrenheit.

The City of Jonesboro will also open their community centers:

  • Earl Bell Community Center, 1212 S. Church St., will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays.
  • Allen Park Community Center, 3609 Race St., will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays.
  • Jonesboro Youth Community Center, 1421 W. Nettleton Ave. will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays.
  • Parker Park Community Center, 1506 N. Church St., will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Closed Sundays.
