Washginton, D. C. — President Joe Biden pardoned Hunter Biden late Sunday.

In a statement from President Biden, he suggested the charges brought against his son were politically motivated.

“The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.”

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden pleaded guilty to three federal firearms-related felony charges in June 2024 after he had admitted to “illegally owning a gun while a drug user”. While Hunter Biden also pleaded guilty in California, in federal court in Los Angeles, to all counts in a nine-count indictment, including three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax offenses.

ANALYSIS: This all comes as a surprise seeing to what President Biden and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre have said throughout the entirety of Hunter Biden’s cases. Which was that Hunter Biden would not be pardoned, and that it wasn’t an option on the table.

President Biden’s statement went on to mention the plea deal that many called a “sweetheart” deal. “Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases. “

Biden also made it clear that it was as much official as unofficial to pardon his son, “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong.”

Many are now asking was this a Thanksgiving conversation as the Biden family dined together in Nantucket, MA.
