Craighead County, AR– First responders are remembering the life of a fellow paramedic.

Mark Gibson, 56, died Friday (8/9/2024) when a Nissan Sentra collided head-on with the ambulance that his wife, Cheri Gibson, 54, was driving.

The couple both worked for Emberson Ambulance, out of Jonesboro.

They were transporting a patient, who was flown to Regional Medical Center at Memphis.

The crash occurred in Lake City at the intersection of Highway 18 and 158.

According to the crash report, a Nissan Centra (V1) was traveling east on Highway 18, near Highway 158. While V2, the ambulance was travelling west on Highway 18. V1 crossed the continuous center turn lane and began traveling in the inside lanes of west Highway 18. V1 hit the ambulance head-on.

Janet Chapman, 67, the driver of the Nissan Sentra also died from injures.

Arkansas State Police are investigated the incident.
