Arkansas, USA- Sunday’s storms leaving a trail behind, a State of Emergency declared in Arkansas, and one county was hit worse than others in Northeast Arkansas.

State of Emergency Declared following Sunday’s Storms

Little Rock, AR- Leaders in Arkansas are taking action following storms that left communities destroyed, a State of Emergency declared for Arkansas.

“The weather-related damage from these storms has created the need for commercial vehicles to haul heavy equipment, oversized loads, transformers, necessary hardware, and other transmission and distribution equipment to line crews for the purpose of restoring power to the citizens of the State of Arkansas”

The deceleration will allow heavy vehicles to pass weight-stations in order to better assist the citizens of Arkansas.

This was issued following storms that produced damaging winds that destroyed homes and businesses.

The deceleration should not last longer than 30 days.

Poinsett County destroyed by Straight-line Winds

Poinsett County, AR- Following extreme heat and storms, residents of Poinsett county woke up Monday morning to find trees blocking roads, and laying on homes.

Brookland News receiving exclusive imagery of Lepanto, AR where trees were down in backyards, and blocking multiple streets.

A Lepanto resident told Brookland News power lines were down everywhere, and says there is no power at there home.

Marked Tree, AR receiving the worst of it all. Trees falling on peoples homes, luckily no fatalities reported.

Rescues were reported to have taken place in Marked Tree.

Power outages reported in most of Poinsett County.

“Right now- as of 6 am- we have about 50,000 customers without power. Our crews are working to restore the power as quickly and safely as possible. They are currently doing damage assessments throughout the state.”

Craighead County Electric Cooperative reports almost 2,000 outages in Poinsett county.

In some place power could be out until the weekend as Entergy reports 73% of Poinsett county is without power.

Damage in Brookland very Minor

Brookland, AR- Sunday’s damaging storms left behind minor damage in the City of Brookland.

As storms moved through Broookland, citizens stayed hunkered down as they watched the weather.

Once the storms came to an end citizens were taking a gander around the city to look at the damage.

All damage was minor, the worst seen was a tree limb blocking the road.

Northeast Arkansas, USA- The Northeast Arkansas Electric Cooperatives are asking residents of Northeast Arkansas conserve as much electricity that you can.

Sunday’s storms have left many without power, as the Arkansas power grid is struggling.

Cities across Northeast Arkansas are black, and now non-essential items in your home using electricity are being asked to be turned off.

According to Craighead Electric Copperative and Entergy Arkansas, 2,845 people are without power in Poinsett county. Overall, 73% of Poinsett county is without power, according to Entergy.

You are asked to keep non-essential items off until at least after 8PM.
