Brookland, AR- Driving on a road with no speed limit sign posted, no longer means you can go as fast as you want.
At a recent Brookland City Council meeting the 3rd reading for an ordinance that states if a speed limit sign is not posted, the speed is automatically 25 miles per hour (MPH). With all members of the council agreeing, the ordinance went in to place.
When the issue was first brought up, Danny Stallings, Code Enforcement Officer said often times in newly built neighborhoods speed limit signs are not posted before citizens begin to move in.
That brought up the issue of speeders throughout the City of Brookland. City Council Member David Loggins, who lives in Brookland Hills says he is often seeing people flying through those streets, with speed limit signs.
Continuing, Loggins said there are always a lot of kids playing in the area.
The speeding ordinance has left the council very happy, knowing police are able to stop vehicles flying through the cities roads.
