Brookland, AR- An amendment is looking to change the Safe Haven law in Arkansas to allow New Born Safety Devices at volunteer firefighting stations.
The law currently excludes volunteer stations, but all it would take if Arkansas HB 1098 passed is for two trained volunteer firefighters to be there at all times, and that the must be at least one mile away from a medical or law enforcement agency.
Which Brookland is across the street from the Brookland Police Department.
This would make the boxes more than triple in the state of Arkansas, as their are more volunteer stations then not.
If a baby were to be placed in the box, anonymously those two firefighters and an ambulance would be notified.
The City of Brookland said to which if the amendment was passed they would be looking forward to adding one to their station.
If the city were to build one you would be the first to know.
