CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Jan. 15, 2025 — Craighead County officials have issued a countywide burn ban, County Administrator Brandon Shrader announced Thursday.

“This directive was requested from the Craighead County District Fire Chiefs, in collaboration with the Arkansas Forestry Services, to protect lives and property,” Shrader said.

The ban prohibits all outdoor burning until further notice. Officials said the measure is necessary due to the rapid drying of vegetation and increased wildfire risk.

The burn ban will be enforced by the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department, local fire district officials, the county Office of Emergency Management, and the Arkansas Forestry Services. Residents are urged to comply with the order to prevent potential fire outbreaks.

The restrictions will remain in effect until conditions improve and an official order lifts the ban.
