JONESBORO, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — Dec. 5, 2025 — The Jonesboro City Stars Booster Club, an independent nonprofit organization, announced this week that it will dissolve and transfer all its operations to the City of Jonesboro.

After 25 years of providing free or low-cost recreational programs to youth across Jonesboro, Craighead County and Northeast Arkansas, the Jonesboro City Stars Booster Club announced this week that it will dissolve as an independent nonprofit and transfer all operations to the City of Jonesboro.

According to a statement from the Booster Club, its board has spent the past several months in discussions with city officials to determine “the best path forward for the long-term success, stability and transparency” of youth programming.

As part of the transition, all bank accounts, funds and sports equipment will be turned over to the city, which will assume full operational responsibility for the recreational programs previously overseen by the nonprofit.

Club leaders said the decision was made “with careful consideration and with the best interests of our youth and community at heart,” adding that the change is expected to strengthen the structure of local recreation offerings and improve transparency in youth sports operations.

The organization thanked volunteers, families, coaches and community partners who have supported its mission for more than two decades.

“We look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of these programs under the City’s leadership,” the release said.
