BROOKLAND, AR — (BrooklandNews.com) — July 2, 2025 — It’s that time of year when Americans celebrate their independence and freedom, which is marked by fireworks.
According to Ordinance 2006-1, which was enacted before Mayor Kenneth Jones’s tenure, fireworks can be launched from June 20 to July 5, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
However, there are restrictions for those shooting fireworks on the Fourth of July. If you’re planning to shoot fireworks on July 4, you can start shooting at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the following day at 12:30 a.m.
You can also shoot fireworks in Brookland on December 30 and January 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Additionally, you can shoot fireworks on December 31 until 12:30 a.m. instead of 10:00 p.m.
In the City of Jonesboro, there’s a city ordinance prohibiting the shooting of fireworks within the city limits.
Here are some tips to stay safe while shooting fireworks:
- Light fireworks at arm’s length using a taper, stand well back and never go back to a lit firework.
- Never throw fireworks or put them in your pockets or clothing.
- Light sparklers one at a time wearing gloves, and place used sparklers in a bucket of water.
