The November 5th, 2024 General Election is edging closer and the candidates on the ballots across the nation are laying out their plans to better your daily life.

From city council to the President of the United States there are a number of races to watch this election season.

POTUS

In the fight for president the two most likely candidates to become the next President of the United States, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, are fighting for the last bit of undecided voters in the few battleground states.

Kamala Harris, the democratic presidential nominee, has been racking up celebrity endorsements in the last few week, most recently Beyoncé. The singer-songwriter holds the title of Harris’s theme song, Freedom.

Donald Trump is making his final pledges to Americans through rallies and podcast. Trump arrived nearly three hours late to a rally after a long interview on the podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience.” The former president and republican presidential nominee is also set to appear at Maddison Square Garden on Sunday (10/27/2024).

The Senate and House of Representatives

Similar to the presidency, the Senate and House of Representatives are set to be determined as to which party controls the race by a few battleground races, or races that are unknown as to who will win.

The House of Representatives has 27 toss-up races, with the most competitive races being in New York as a number of republicans’ seats are at question. All 435 representatives are up for election.

The Senate has a number of races aswell that are considered toss-ups, but only three are likely to determine if the Senate stays democratic or goes republican.

Local and State Races

A number of local and state races will also occur across the nation.

In Arkansas, the a number of politicians in the state senate and house are up for election. While those races are not as competitive given the republican history in Arkansas.

There will also be three issues on the ballot.

  1. An amendment to allow lottery proceeds to go towards scholarships and grants to Arkansas citizens enrolled in vocational-technical schools and technical institutes.
  2. An amendment requiring local voter approval in a countywide special election for certain new casino licenses and repealing authority to issue a caison license in Pope County, Arkansas.
  3. The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment
    • This issue is set to be on the ballot, but the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled that votes for it not be counted.

For those in Craighead County, Arkansas, there will be a 1¢ tax on the ballot for upgrades to the Craighead County Jail.

If early voting, you can go to a number of polling place, while the closet to Brookland is the Election Annex in Jonesboro.

On Election Day, citizens can vote at Wood Chapel Baptist Church at 175 Hwy 230 E Brookland, AR 72417.
