Brookland, AR — A Brookland man is behind bars after allegedly hurting pregnant wife.

The Brookland Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of North Oak St. on early Sunday morning, which led to the arrest of Samuel James Johnson, 27 of Brookland.

The caller told dispatch that Johnson “had grabbed her by the throat and slammed her head into things inside of the residence,” the victim also noted that Johnson had been drinking all night and had a gun, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit also states that that Johnson did not comply with commands to exit the home from police over the PA, and stated that he felt unsafe with the officers have their weapons out. Johnson exited the the home after police attempted to get a phone number from Johnson.

Police met with the victim which is was then learned they were pregnant.

The victim said, when arriving home, Johnson had locked the her out, but the window was unlocked. She then took the gun — which she stated usually stayed in his car — out of the window and climbed in.

From there, the victim said, ““grabbed her by the neck with both hands and slung her around, causing her head to hit walls and doors inside of the residence.”

Johnson is being held on a is being held in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash/surety bond.

He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, and if bonded out to wear an ankle monitor.
