Brookland, AR– The City of Brookland is planning to build a new municipal center, but recent bids have come over budget. As the city scrambles to resolve the problem.
Mayor Kenneth Jones, City of Brookland told Brookland News, “the council gave me the authority to get the group that was in the design, which is all the office people [and] the police department to meet with the architects and the engineers and the lowest bid that we got, and were going to look at what we could possibly take out of the project and still be functional an accomplish what we need.”
The lowest bid came in at over two million dollars.
The building proposed would bring the Brookland Police Department and city hall together.
The center would be built on Craighead County Road 760, before the Whitten Creek Apartments.
