Brookland, AR– Brookland High School sophomore, Amelia Ford joins lawsuit against the Biden Administration over a new rule that the administration claims would protect LGBTQIA+ students.
The new rule rule is an expansion of Title IX, that according to the Department of Education’s website would protect against all sex-based harassment and discrimination, promote accountability and fairness and empower and support students and families.
22 states claim that’s not what Title IX would do, claiming the expansion exceeds the Dept. of Educations authority.
All 22 of those states suing the administration in multiple lawsuits, including Alabama, Arkansas,Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
State of Arkansas Attorney General, Tim Griffin said, “Congress enacted Title IX to protect and promote opportunities for women and girls in education and sports. For the last half century, that’s what it has done. But President Biden and his Department of Education now want to radically reinterpret Title IX and recast it as a rule about gender identity.”
In a recent press conference, Amelia Ford, Brookland High School Sophomore announced she was joining the suit. In that press conference held by AG Griffin, Ford said, “a few days ago some officials in Washington DC issued some rules forcing schools to let certain boys access girls locker rooms and sports teams now whenever a boy identifies as a girl that boy can come into my locker room where I change he can use the bathroom where I need privacy he can even get placed into my hotel room with me overnight when my team travels these same officials have also said that these boys must be allowed to compete against me on the basketball courts and even have the ability to takeaway my spot to play on these teams that is not okay you don’t just become a Girl by what you feel or by what you think the government should not force us to disregard common sense.”
