USA– 21 states, including Arkansas have filed a suit against the United States Department of Justice over new ‘Gun Show Loophole’ rule.
The rule would change the private sale exemption and require those selling at flea markets, gun shows, and online to register for a license and conduct a federal background check.
The suit filed by the State of Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, Montana, Alabama, Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, 3 other people and 1 business asks the court to postpone the effective date of the rule pending judicial review and to declare the rue in violation of over 10 things.
The suit claims , “the final rule is not the product of a well-reasoned decision. Rather it betrays a series of post-hoc justifications that serve as a pretext for doing what the defendants truly want to do, which is create near- universal background checks.”
The Department of Justice nor The White House have said anything following the suit.
Attorney General Tim Griffin and Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach are leading the suit.
