Craighead County, AR– A small flying insect has entered the battle to hopefully get rid of mosquitos.

An insect known as dragonflies comes around in the summer the same time mosquito’s come around.

While dragflies are known to get rid of mosquitos by eating them, they also eat flies, and other flying insects.

Their known to catch their pray in mid-air.

When flying you may not notice that the big has four wings and can move each one indivisually.

They can live for multiple years while underwater, and their extremely beneficial to people.

Jim Stark, Local Director at Vector Disease Control who gave a monthly update at the Brookland city Council Meeting said “we caught an average of about 10,925 [mosquitos] bugs, which equals out to a total of 175 mosquitos per trap.”

Stark says that number is high for July, and those numbers were put on paper before recent rain.
