Brookland, AR- It’s that time of year where Americans celebrate their independence, and freedom, which means fireworks.
Fireworks can be tricky when it comes to when you can shoot them.
According to Ordiance 2006-1 that dates back before Mayor Jones had taken office states that fireworks can be shot from June 20 to July 5th from 10:00AM to 10:00PM, but there’s a kick.
If you are shooting fireworks on July 4th you can begin shooting at 10:00AM and shoot until the following day at 12:30AM.
You are also able to shoot fireworks on December 30 and January 1st from 10:00AM to 10:00PM 1. Again, you are able to shoot fireworks on December 31st until 12:30AM instead of 10:00PM.
If you are in the City of Jonesboro there is a city ordinance in place stating you must not shoot fireworks in the city limits.
Kaden’s Firework located beside Busy Been Coffee on Highway 49 in Brookland sales tons of cool-looking fireworks as some call it, but the question is how safe are they.
While some are safer than others here’s some tips:
- Light fireworks at arm’s length using a taper, stand well back and never go back to a lit firework.
- Never throw fireworks or put them in your pockets or clothing.
- Light sparklers one at a time wearing gloves, and place used sparklers in a bucket of water.
