Brookland, AR– The Human Rights Campaign, a group that pledges for rights for all people has issued a State of Emergency in Arkansas for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“We have officially declared a state of emergency for LGBTQ+ people in the United States for the first time following an unprecedented and dangerous spike in anti-LGBTQ+ legislative assaults sweeping state houses this year. More than 75 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been signed into law this year alone, more than doubling last year’s number, which was previously the worst year on record.”

Arkansas has also passed what people call anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.

Back in March SB199 was signed, which is a bill that would restrict anything that would “instill or create physiological or anatomical characteristics that resemble a sex different from the individual’s biological sex, including without limitation medical services that provide puberty-blocking drugs, cross-sex hormones, or other mechanisms to promote the development of feminizing or masculinizing features in the opposite biological sex, or genital or nongenital gender reassignment surgery performed for the purpose of assisting an individual with a gender transition.”

Another bill passed back in March, SB270 that would criminalize transgender people using restrooms that match their gender identity.

The bill would allow someone to be charged with misdemeanor sexual indecency with a child if they use a public restroom or changing room of the opposite sex when a minor is present.

The image above shows what states have bills in place or not of what the Human Rights Campaign says is good or bad for LGBTQIA+ people.
