Brookland, AR- An adjustment from agricultural to commercial sparked many debates at a Planning Commission Meeting.

The rezoning would be to allow a builder to place storage buildings on the property.

In an interview with Charles Cesare, objector of the rezoning he said to me in summary that storage buildings aren’t what he wants in his neighborhood.

Many people signed their signature between two people over 40 signatures collected of citizens living on CR- 741, and in the area.

Objection. Objection. Objection. residents of CR-741 continued to defend themselves and their neighborhood, that’s when a Commission member said we should table this item until the next meeting, March 1, 2023 at 7 P. M.

During the second meeting Patty Scott decided to put her opinion on the rezonement in a lengthy speech begging for the PC to deny the rezonement, also mentioning a robbery happening, and the crime rates.

Charles Cesar also brought posters in the second meeting showing new houses in his neighborhood and tried to give a vision of what it would look like if there were storage building added.

John Easley , Associated Engineering who also represents the property owners, said that CR 741 has limited traffic when objectors shook their head *no* and continued their commitment.

All members of the Planning Commission decided to deny the storage units.

During the meeting builder of the property said he wanted to be the “top of storage facilities,” recommending member of the PC come down and take a look of how they run things at NEA Storage.

When citizens warned the commission about rodents, the builder of the project said they used a quality company to help with that problem.

Updates will be posted right here, when they become available.
